Kaukauna Utilities – Badger Hydro Plant

Kaukauna Utilities Hydroelectric Plant Construction Project Turbine Installation

The power plant project started in May 2012 and completed construction in December 2013. Boldt’s scope of work consisted of removal of existing stone power canal walls to widen the canal and improve water flow followed by installation of a cellular cofferdam to dry up the existing power canal and rehabilitation of the existing head gates and gate hoist equipment.

Two existing hydroelectric plants on the power canal were decommissioned as well. One was demolished to make way for a new powerhouse that features two new 3.5MW turbines. The other plant was converted for an alternate use. A new trash track structure was built at the start of the power canal.
