Boldt was hired as the off-loading and erection subcontractor to RES. There were 116 Siemens SWT 2.3 – 108 80M towers erected over 100 square miles of canyons and rolling hills in Columbia County. The wind farm generates 267MW of wind power for Portland General Electric Company.

Project Highlights

  • The Tucannon River Wind Farm produces clean, renewable energy for up to 84,000 homes in western Oregon.
  • Maintaining the project’s milestone schedule was essential to enable the project to qualify for critical federal tax credits.
  • The turbines are mounted on cylindrical type steel towers with a hub height of approximately 80m. Each rotor sweeps an area of 9,144m² at 16 rotations per minute (rpm) and has a diameter of 108m. Each rotor weighs 60t, while each nacelle weighs 82t.
