Five Hills Health Region Hospital Emergency Entrance

The Five Hills Health Region serves the growing Moose Jaw community in south central Saskatchewan, Canada. For the construction of their new 208,755 SF hospital, they engaged Boldt to help deliver the project as part of an integrated project delivery (IPD) team, along with a local joint-venture contractor. The project is a significant milestone for the country of Canada, being the first one on record to use the Integrated Lean Project Delivery® (ILPD) approach.

The 208,755 SF state-of-the-art healthcare facility services a region of over 54,000 residents and offers a wide range of treatment, including procedures, universal care, emergency care, diagnostic imaging, central sterile processing, inpatient care, and many administrative and support service areas. Included in inpatient care are 12 mental health and addiction beds, 20 medicine beds, four intensive care beds, 10 pediatric beds, 20 surgical beds and six LDRP beds.

Project Highlights

  • On the exterior, standard wall assembly panels were prefabricated, where standardization is estimated to have cut labor cost by more than 60%.
  • This was the first project in Canada to be delivered in the Integrated Lean Project Delivery framework, with team members bound together using an Integrated Form of Agreement (IFOA).
